I am a third-year student studying Mathematics at the University of Surrey and have always had an interest in wildlife photography. A few years ago I raised £500 for the RSPB by selling greetings cards with my photos on and won the Thomson Habitats Photography Competition.

Mayday Farm - Thetford Forest
We heard the wonderful sound and got good views of a few Nightjars late in the fading light (I got nothing more than a record shot as it was too dark to get a good photo of the bird in flight) and got this photo of a Glow Worm in complete darkness during the walk back.
RSPB Lakenheath
These four photos were taken at RSPB Lakenheath. We saw Cuckoo, Marsh Harrier, Reed Bunting, Whitethroat, Reed Warbler (many), Bearded Tit, Curlew and Oystercatcher. We also saw a few butterflies including Green-Veined White and Meadow Brown.

Oughtonhead Common
We walked from Bedford Road (near Ickleford) to Hitchin Road (near Pirton) this afternoon and found a great number of butterflies and a new species of bird for our year list. We saw three new species of butterfly - Ringlet, Meadow Brown and Marbled White and heard a Quail calling from the crops.

This photo is of a Grey Wagtail on the stream between Portmill Road and Hermitage Road in Hitchin. It was only the second time I had seen the bird this year.
