RSPB Labrador Bay

We had an excellent guided walk at the reserve and saw a number of species (whitethroat, blackcap, jay, kestrel), as well as at least 10 Cirl Buntings - a bird that is only seen in Devon and a part of Cornwall.

Purwell Ninesprings Nature Reserve

Purwell Ninesprings is our local nature reserve. It offers a range of wildlife including Whitethroat, Grey Heron, Blackcap, Cuckoo, Reed Warbler, Sedge Warbler, Reed Bunting, Kingfisher and Water Vole and a number of butterflies throughout the summer. The reserve consists of a circular walk, a viewpoint (where you are almost guaranteed Reed Warbler in spring and summer) and a boardwalk. I would definitely recommend the reserve.

Six weeks after taking photos of a family of bullfinches in the garden, this morning, six bullfinches flew into our garden (one male, one female, four juveniles). Both the male and female were feeding the babies. There was also a Juvenile Goldfinch being fed by two adults.
