The Lodge

The Lodge, Sandy is probably my most visited RSBP reserve. These photos are two of my first taken with my current camera. Both were taken on the feeders at the entrance to the reserve at a reasonable distance. The first is a Coal Tit and the second is a Nuthatch - both common birds on the reserve, but still a joy to see.

Baby Blue Tit fledging

Poor quality again, but another special moment. We (my family) were lucky enough to witness the fledging of many baby blue tits from our nest box early on 1st June. It's a shame we haven't been as successful this year (2011) with our new camera nest box.

Water Vole at Minsmere

This is my only really good photograph taken with my old camera. It was taken from the boardwalk over the pond at Minsmere and is still one of my best close encounters with wildlife. I barely needed to use my 4x digital zoom (I now use 18x optical zoom!) to get a good photo of this well loved, elusive creature.

Bullfinches in my garden

Not a great quality photo as it was taken with my old small digital camera but this is one of my first wildlife photographs. It was taken in my garden of a male and female bullfinch that eventually fed young. Both the male and female (there's a good chance that they are the same birds) have recently returned to our garden (in early May 2011) and appear to be taking seeds back to their nest.
